Live in the Moment

I have this camera. It looks like so many others and there are more photographers in the world than I care to count. I have these eyes. They hardly make me distinctive as all of humanity has a set of eyes. But I do have something unique. The way I see the world. I like to tell stories, not only through my writing, but through the pictures I take. Almost everyone has a camera now. But everyone uses it different. And what people capture, is how they view the world. And I think that’s a beautiful thing.

They say to live in the moment. That you don’t always have to be taking pictures and missing on what is happening. I understood where they were coming from. But I also started to think, I don’t necessarily agree. 100 %. You see, our brains are finite. They are bound to forget. Living in the moment in your teens, does not mean you’ll always remember in your late 30’s. So why not record. Take pictures. Capture those memories to store for our forgetful minds.

They say I’m a paparazzi. To stop taking so many pictures. To put the camera down. They also take a look at my pictures and say they had forgotten that moment. That it was wonderful to remember. They say they’re glad I recorded those memories.

So if you ask me if I’m living in the moment. I’ll say that I am. And I’m making sure I remember it for the rest of my life.
