Letters

Words of encouragement are so beautiful. They sometimes happen spontaneously and at just the right time for someone. One thing I have noticed though, is that when they are written down, either on paper or through text message, they can become encouragements for life. I have handwritten notes and long text messages from people that I have read more times than I can count. I will take a screenshot or I will have the note close by so I can always read it when my emotions are faltering.

It’s also another reminder and realization for me in understanding why God had such care in leaving behind one giant letter. His written note for us is made up of 66 books containing different genres. They are all for us to hold close and read whenever we need an encouragement or a reminder.

When I’m feeling overwhelmed I read Job.

When I’m feeling down I read Psalms.

When I’m feeling unsure I read Proverbs.

When I’m feeling unloved I read Hosea.

The list goes on and God has something for you during every walk of life with whatever is happening around you. His Word says that there is nothing new under the sun. Whatever it is that you are confronting, God already wrote something down to help you walk through it. The thing is though, that you have to read through to find it. And you may stumble on something you weren’t looking for but turns out you needed to read it. It could also be something you had read before but it means something different when you read it again.

Today, I guess I’m just thankful for all the written notes and texts I have that I’ve been reading over and over again. Especially the one my God left for me.

Take some time today to write someone a note. Someone that you haven’t reached out to in a while. Trust me, it can really mean the world to them.
