Just be yourself

Has anyone tried to encourage you before doing something with the phrase, “just be yourself”? What does that even mean?
Do they mean your quirks?
Are they talking about the way you dress?
Does that mean I can snort when I laugh and not hold it in?
Is it (for the ladies) about wearing less make-up?
What does “being yourself” really look like?
When people ask you about yourself, do you feel the need to prove your importance? Does what they will think of you make you think twice about how you will describe yourself? Do you freeze up and wonder what you could possibly say to make people look at you like you are something special?
Job interviews, group hangouts, dates, meeting people in general requires a first impression. That first impression will show people who you are in a nutshell. Of course, they can't possibly know everything about you in one short meeting so "yourself" can be such a flexible idea. The people who truly matter will allow you to open up and let you be yourself. Everyone else's opinion is invalid.
I do believe that Satan is taking full advantage of people’s desire to be themselves. People are changing who they were born as thinking it was a mistake. They think being themselves means something completely different so they will do whatever they can to change it.
What if I told you that being yourself had nothing to do with you but everything to do with how God sees you?
I am loved
I am His
I am worthy
I am purposed
I am redeemed
I am a royal priesthood
I am a messenger of hope
I am strong
If what you wear, do, act, feel makes you what God says about you, then go ahead and keep on being yourself! Don't let the opinions of others restrict you into being what God sees in you already. What He formed you to be since the beginning.
Now take a selfie, post it on the internet, and go have an incredible day!
