Drives with Jesus

Car conversations are great. Late night drives are a whole mood. Jam sessions while cruising are so therapeutic. My 6 hour and 28 minute drive to Savanah showed me a few things. While driving (safe driving), I really only had a few things to do: focus on the road, listen to music, and be alone with my thoughts. I made a playlist of songs I knew would get my heart ready to let God do whatever He needed to do with me. I was getting ready to have some one on one time with Him and have some serious uninterrupted conversations. I had some beautiful moments with Him in the parks and stuff, but where I found Him speaking to me more was in the car. There were no distractions but my undivided attention. The feeling I mostly remember is the feeling of His arms wrapping around my heart in this sweet embrace. The same way He spoke to the storm to be still, He spoke to the storm in my heart to be still and focus on Him. On the One who IS peace.

I wanted to have this profound explanation of what my heart was feeling but it really is so simple. God is in your car, room, kitchen, desk, etc. just as much as He is at an altar during a powerful worship night. He can speak to you wherever you find yourself as long as your ears are listening.

I took a drive last night at midnight with a friend because God was speaking, and we were listening. We weren’t just listening, but we had a desire to be spoken to. God’s presence was so heavy and we were soaking in it. 2 hearts craving to be shaped to look more like Christ. 2 hearts making more room for Christ to take over. 2 hearts that just wanted to love God a little bit more that night. And God was there. Alone or with someone, I have come to love my drives with Jesus. Taking away all possible distractions to simply listen and worship.

Some have closets, some have rooms, some have a porch or backyard, I found my car to be the place where I can really talk with God and have an encounter. There is so much He's been speaking and I'm finally slowing down and taking the time to be with Him.
